A Nigerian medic has been appointed by Sierra Leonean President Julius Maada Bio, to lead the fight against coronavirus pandemic in the country.
The Nigerian, Dr. Laoluwa Adejayan, is now to head the COVID-19 Task Force in Sierra Leone, a Technical Aids Corps programme he has been working with in the country.
Adejayan, is a Nigerian graduate practicing in Sierra Leone, and authorities justified his appointment on the basis being the best foreign medical practitioner in the country in recent years.

The authorities has announced an increase of 100 per cent in his current salary of $20,000 per month, among other benefits.
Adejayan, who graduated from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology in Ogbomoso, Oyo State in South West Nigeria, performed his compulsory one year National Youths Service (NYSC) in Bayelsa State after his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme, but later transferred his service to the West African country under the Technical Aids Corps scheme, in 2012.
The Technical Aids Corps, is currently being headed by a Nigerian, Dr. Pius Osunyikanmi, from Ile-Oluji, Ondo State, Ondo State, also in South West Nigeria.
In a letter Sierra Leonean President Julius Maada Bio, addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari, to formally inform him of the development, he described Adejayan’s as a good ambassador of Nigeria in the country.
The Sierra Leonean president said, over the years, Adejayan had proven to be a well-trained, brilliant and hard working doctor.
President Muhammadu Buhari, reacting in a statement through his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Femi Adesina, Buhari said the Federal Government was proud of Adejayan’s hard work in a foreign land.
