‘You’ll always be my friend,’ Tinubu celebrates Osinbajo at 68

• Affirms his democratic right to contest APC presidential ticket against him

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu marked the 68th birthday of former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo with heartfelt tributes, describing him as a close ally, friend, and associate.

Tinubu highlighted their longstanding relationship dating back to his tenure as Lagos State Governor, during which Osinbajo served as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice.

Together, they implemented significant political and judicial reforms using legal frameworks.

Tinubu praised Osinbajo’s dedication during his time as Vice President under President Muhammadu Buhari, noting his collaborative and harmonious work ethic that brought pride to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. Tinubu said, “Professor Yemi Osinbajo will always remain my friend and associate. He served our country meritoriously as Vice President to that patriotic leader, President Muhammadu Buhari”

He also acknowledged Osinbajo’s democratic right to contest against him for the APC presidential ticket in 2023, emphasizing that this has not affected their friendship.

Reflecting on Osinbajo’s leadership, Tinubu recalled how he successfully acted as President while Buhari was on medical leave in the UK.

He concluded his tribute by affirming that Osinbajo will always remain a trusted friend and associate.
