Christmas: Omisore charges Christians to be more prayerful and steadfast

The former deputy governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has urged the Christian faithful and Nigerians generally to be more intense in their interactions with the Almighty God during this year Christmas celebrations.

He charged them to be prayerful and steadfast and be stronger in their determination that this period of global challenges arising from the outbreak of COVID-19 shall pass.

Omisore, a former senator, who representing the people of Ife/Ijesa in Osun East at the Senate from 2003 to 2009, and also a former Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate in the last governorship election in Osun State, congratulated all Christians for the Christmas celebration, and thank God for seeing them through amid the global pandemic.

He said: “Only the rare grace of the Almighty God prevails upon all the living for their existence,” while he saluted the understanding and compliance of all Nigerians especially Osun State people for “their compliance to the non-pharmaceutical prevention guidelines and protocol introduced to manage the coronavirus outbreak.”

He also encouraged them not to lower their guards in maintaining the safety measures including regular hand washing, face masks wearing and social/physical distancing to keep up with preventive tendencies of the measures.

The former Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman, who holds the Lisa of Osogbo chieftaincy title concluded that everyone should be conscious of the fact that COVID-19 has not slacked off, as he said, “it is ravaging seriously in other parts of the world, even here in the country, Nigeria.”

He noted that, “mildly even another more dangerous strain was discovered in Britain, hence, the onus is on all to be more safety conscious and celebrate with high level of staying safe.”
