CONFIRMED: SGF announces Gambari as Buhari’s Chief of Staff replacing Abba Kyari

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, has announced the appointment of Professor Ibrahim Gambari as the new Chief of Staff to Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari.

The United Nations former diplomat, Gambari, is now to occupy the exalted political office as a replacement to the late Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari.

Gambari, the former Under-Secretary of the UN arrived the Presidential Villa about 10.53 a.m. Wednesday and was welcomed by the State House Permanent Secretary, Mr Tijani Umar.

Some senior presidency directors were also seen in a video accompanying Umar to welcome Gambari, as he was subsequently screened for COVID-19, on arrival.

Gambari’s temperature was checked with a hand-held thermometer, and he later used hand sanitiser, before he was ushered into the main building.

The news had broken out on Tuesday that former Minister of External Affairs had been appointed as the new Chief of Staff to the President, Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to replace the late Abba Kyari.
