Prominent Nigerians across political, media, and faith circles have continued to celebrate the 69th birthday of Nigeria’s former vice president, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, GCON,, with tributes highlighting his leadership, humility, scholarship, and service to the nation.

Osinbajo, a professor of law and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, turned 69 on Saturday, 8 March, drawing congratulatory messages from political leaders, former colleagues, and admirers across the country.

Among those who sent goodwill messages is Niger State governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, who praised the former vice president for his contributions to Nigeria’s development.

In a birthday message, the governor described him as a patriotic leader whose service has benefited the country.

“Former Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, is a patriotic leader and a national asset whose selflessness, commitment to nation building, and exemplary leadership have contributed immensely to the peace, growth, and development of Nigeria.”

Bago also prayed for continued strength and success for the former vice president.

“I congratulate Professor Yemi Osinbajo on the occasion of his birthday and wish him good health, longevity, and continued success in all his endeavours.”

Former presidential adviser Babafemi Ojudu paid tribute to Osinbajo, describing him as an exceptional public servant and a dear friend.

His full statement reads: “Today, I join family, friends, colleagues, and countless admirers across Nigeria and beyond to celebrate a remarkable man, a dear friend, and a former boss, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, as he marks his 69th birthday.

“Professor Osinbajo belongs to that rare breed of public servants whose intellect is matched by character and whose knowledge walks hand in hand with humility.

“A brilliant scholar, a thoughtful leader, and an unfailingly courteous gentleman, he has carried himself in public life with a grace that reassures even in turbulent times.

“In a country often burdened by cynicism about leadership, he has remained a steady example that integrity, decency, and patriotism still have a place in our national life.

“Those of us who had the privilege of working with him know that behind the calm demeanour is a deeply reflective mind and a heart profoundly committed to the Nigerian project.

“His love for country is not loud or theatrical; it is expressed through service, discipline, and an abiding faith in the possibilities of our nation.

“At 69, Professor Osinbajo stands not merely as a former Vice President of the Federal Republic, but as a drum major for humanity, a man whose life reminds us that leadership, at its finest, is an act of moral responsibility to others.

“May the years ahead grant him continued strength, wisdom, and good health as he continues to serve Nigeria, Africa, and humanity in ways both seen and unseen.

“Happy Birthday, Prof. And thank you for the example you continue to set.”

Also paying tribute, Laolu Akande, who served as spokesman to the vice president during the administration of Muhammadu Buhari, lauded Osinbajo’s exemplary virtues.

Akande emphasised Osinbajo’s ability to inspire through both words and actions.

“There is one thing that leadership must deliver without which the leadership amounts to very little at best, if anything. That thing is INSPIRATIONAL. A leader must inspire and that is one of the things that stand Prof Osinbajo out wherever he is, he inspires with words and in deeds. We pray the good LORD continue to keep him and sustain his lot.

Let’s celebrate him today as he turns 69. Happy birthday and many happy returns of the day, dear prof.”

Faith based media platform Sermon Times also joined in celebrating the milestone, highlighting Osinbajo’s devotion to God and public service.

In a birthday message, the platform wrote:

“Happy 69th birthday Professor Yemi Osinbajo. We celebrate a remarkable life of service, integrity, and unwavering devotion to God and nation.”

The tribute reflects the admiration Osinbajo commands within Christian communities, where he is also known for his pastoral work in the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

Osinbajo served as Nigeria’s vice president between 2015 and 2023 and remains widely regarded as one of the country’s most respected legal scholars and public intellectuals.

The outpouring of tributes on his 69th birthday highlights his enduring impact on Nigeria’s political, academic, and faith communities, with many praising his integrity, civility, and considered leadership.

Admirers and supporters from across divides have also taken to social media to celebrate Osinbajo’s exemplary service to Nigeria and humanity.
