A leap is to be added to this year’s annual extra-ordinary general meeting of the Association for Consulting Engineering in Nigeria (ACEN), with the attendance of former deputy governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, as a special guest.

The event holds in Port-Harcourt, the capital city of River State on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at the Royal Banquet Hall, Hotel Presidential, Port-Harcourt, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

ACEN, in a letter signed by its Managing Director, Sunday Kalejaiye, had specially invited Omisore, an Ile-Ife-born politician, and a successful business man, who holds two engineering degrees and a postgraduate certificate from Brunel University Uxbridge, to attend its annual extraordinary meeting.

In his letter to Omisore, stating the theme of this year’s extraordinary meeting to be, ‘The Nigerian Economy and the Challenges of Consulting Engineering Practice under the Threats of Insecurity,’ Kalejaye said, the association had “the pleasure of inviting you as a Special Guest at the Extraordinary General Meeting of the Association for Consulting Engineering in Nigeria (ACEN).”

Kalejaye also disclosed that, “The EGM of our Association is a forum in the Association’s calendar during which member firms meet to address topical issues and take vital decisions to reposition our Association for the immediate and future opportunities in the economy of the Nation.”

What will make this year’s event different in value added is the presence of Omisore, a consummate engineer, with two engineering degrees from a top European university, who, in January 2013, was awarded a PhD after he completed his academic programme in Infrastructure Finance from the International School of Management, Paris, France.

As a politician, apart from serving his home state as a deputy governor from 1999 to 2003, he later became a Senator, representing Osun East Senatorial District from 2003 to 2009, within which period he was appointed the appropriation committee chairman at the upper chambers.

Omisore is a philanthropic loved by his people.
