Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s Senior Special Assistant (SSA), on Media and Publicity, Mr Laolu Akande, has distanced the Office of the Vice President from the activities of one Mr Olugbenga Olaoye and his support group called “The Osinbajo Think Tank (TOTT).”

The self-acclaimed Co-Convener of Osinbajo Think Tank support group had, on Tuesday, 12th April, 2022, made some controversial statements during a live Programme on Arise TV, while speaking on the topic, “Tinubu/Osinbajo Presidential bids.”

Mr Olugbenga Olaoye’s statements, during the interview session, had since drawn the ire of many supporters of the Vice President and Tinubu’s camp on Twitter and other social media channels.

Part of his statements had read, “We cannot afford another sick President, who will be traveling to London all the time as we currently have, we need someone who is mentally sound. The little time that Osinbajo spent to lead FEC was different. Things were moving”

But, disclaiming Olaoye’s representation in a latest tweet on Wednesday, Akande, on his official Twitter account, condemned the statement calling it “deplorable and in a bad taste” while he also clarified that the activities and philosophy of the group do not represent or have the backing of the office of the Vice President, warning the members of public to beware.

In his words: “Indeed this gentleman does not represent the VP nor the Office. His views are completely & totally his own. This particular opinion he has expressed on TV is deplorable and in bad taste. I am not even aware of the so-called Osinbajo Think Tank he purports to represent. Pls IGNORE”

“Just so we are clear, the gentleman is Olugbenga Olaoye who was a guest on AriseTV Morning Show yesterday morning,” Akande tweeted.
