Rainoil Limited has taken a strategic step towards advancing Nigeria’s energy transition with a working visit to the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PiCNG).
The visit marks a significant move toward fostering innovative partnerships and unlocking investment opportunities in the midstream and downstream energy sectors.
The discussions highlighted the potential of leveraging Rainoil’s expansive nationwide network to enhance conversion capacity and accelerate the widespread adoption of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).

This collaboration aims to drive sustainable energy solutions, operational efficiency, and a greener future for Nigeria’s energy landscape.
This move aligns with Nigeria’s broader efforts to harness its abundant natural gas resources for cleaner energy alternatives.
The Nigerian government launched the National Gas Expansion Program (NGEP) in December 2020 to promote natural gas as a transition fuel, targeting the conversion of one million vehicles to CNG and creating millions of jobs.
In August 2023, President Bola Tinubu established PiCNG to expand CNG adoption, reduce energy costs, and ease the burden of fuel subsidy removal.
As of December 2024, Nigeria has 171 CNG conversion centers, with plans to reach 200 by year-end.
Rainoil’s partnership with PiCNG is expected to accelerate this progress, reinforcing a commitment to sustainable energy solutions and positioning natural gas as a viable alternative in Nigeria’s evolving energy landscape.
