• Accord Candidate Secures Wider Spread Across State As APC Maintains Strongholds
Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party has won 19 of Osun State’s 30 Local Government Areas, while the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, won 11 LGAs in the 2026 governorship election.
The results from the 30 LGAs show a competitive contest between the two leading candidates, with Adeleke securing the wider geographical spread across the state, while Oyebamiji retained significant support in several areas.
The announced results put Adeleke on 511,067 votes, against 444,811 votes for Oyebamiji, giving the Accord candidate a lead of 66,256 votes.
Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress finished third with 17,180 votes.

Adeleke wins 19 LGAs
Adeleke secured victories in the following 19 LGAs:

Adeleke recorded his largest margin in Ede North, where he polled 35,427 votes, compared with 10,283 votes for Oyebamiji, giving him a margin of 25,144 votes.
He also recorded a substantial victory in Ede South, where he scored 26,188 votes, against Oyebamiji’s 6,219, a margin of 19,969 votes.
In Osogbo, the state capital, Adeleke secured 36,480 votes, while Oyebamiji polled 30,474.
Other notable victories for Adeleke came in Ife East, where he scored 27,201 votes against Oyebamiji’s 18,600, and Iwo, where he recorded 27,085 votes against 19,660.
Oyebamiji wins 11 LGAs
Oyebamiji secured victories in the following 11 LGAs:

Oyebamiji recorded his largest margin in Irewole, where he secured 29,972 votes, compared with Adeleke’s 10,934, giving the APC candidate a margin of 19,038 votes.
He also won Boripe with 19,963 votes, against Adeleke’s 12,448.
In Ilesa East, Oyebamiji polled 16,208 votes, while Adeleke recorded 12,280.
The APC candidate also won Obokun with 16,120 votes, against Adeleke’s 12,023.
The closest APC victory came in Isokan, where Oyebamiji secured 14,063 votes, just 298 votes ahead of Adeleke, who polled 13,765.
Adeleke leads in LGA spread
The distribution of the 30 LGAs gives Adeleke 19 councils, representing 63.3 per cent of the state’s LGAs.
Oyebamiji won 11 councils, representing 36.7 per cent.
The figures show that Adeleke achieved the wider spread across Osun, although Oyebamiji retained significant areas of strength for the APC.
Adeleke’s victories included major electoral centres such as Osogbo, Ede North, Ede South, Ife Central, Ife East, Iwo and Ilesa West.
Oyebamiji, meanwhile, secured victories in areas including Irewole, Boripe, Ilesa East, Obokun, Olorunda and Ife South.
Narrow victories on both sides
Some of the contests were decided by relatively small margins.
Adeleke’s narrowest victory came in Boluwaduro, where he scored 7,118 votes, compared with 7,050 for Oyebamiji, a difference of just 68 votes.
Oyebamiji’s narrowest victory came in Isokan, where he defeated Adeleke by 298 votes.
These results highlight the competitiveness of several constituencies despite Adeleke’s wider advantage in the overall LGA count.
Adeleke also leads in statewide votes
The aggregate figures further strengthen Adeleke’s position.

Adeleke therefore leads Oyebamiji by 66,256 votes in the reported statewide tally.
The result gives the Accord candidate an advantage in both the number of LGAs won and the total votes recorded across the state.

The final results show a clear advantage for Adeleke in terms of both geographical spread and overall votes, while Oyebamiji’s 11 LGA victories demonstrate that the APC maintained a substantial electoral presence across Osun.
The key figures from the LGA results are 19 LGAs for Adeleke, 11 LGAs for Oyebamiji and a reported statewide vote margin of 66,256 in favour of the Accord candidate.
