Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has marked a decade since he witnessed Dr. Akinwumi Adesina’s inauguration as President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) by returning to the same hall in Abidjan to celebrate the conclusion of Adesina’s ten-year tenure.
Reflecting on the milestone, Osinbajo said, “Ten years ago, I stood in this very hall as Vice President of Nigeria to witness the inauguration of my brother and friend, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, as President of the African Development Bank. Today, I return to celebrate his final day in office after ten remarkable years of visionary leadership at the Bank.”

The event was attended by prominent Nigerian dignitaries, including the Hon. Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, representing the President of Nigeria; the Hon. Minister of Livestock Development, Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha; Governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Caleb Muftang of Plateau State; Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Noimot Salako-Oyedele; and the Oniru of Iruland, HRH Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, a former Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture.
Osinbajo and his wife, Dolapo, also expressed their delight at being warmly hosted by Dr. Adesina’s wife, Yemisi Adesina, during the celebration.
“The gathering celebrated the profound impact of Adesina’s decade-long leadership at the AfDB, highlighting his transformative contributions to Africa’s economic growth and development.
