Former Vice President has expressed heartfelt gratitude to God seven years after surviving a helicopter crash in , describing the incident as a testament to divine mercy and preservation.

Osinbajo marked the seventh anniversary of the crash on 2 February 2026, recalling the accident which occurred on 2 February 2019 in Kabba, , while he was on official engagement during the general election campaign period.

The helicopter conveying him and members of his team crash landed on approach to the town. All passengers and crew members survived without loss of life.

Reflecting on the incident, Osinbajo said, “Seven years ago today, the Lord spared our lives in a helicopter crash in Kabba. We remain grateful to God for His mercy and preservation.”

He noted that the experience deepened his faith and reinforced his awareness of the fragility of life and the responsibility that comes with public service.

The 2019 crash attracted nationwide concern at the time, with leaders and citizens expressing relief over his safety.

Commemorating the anniversary, Osinbajo reiterated his gratitude to God and affirmed his continued commitment to purposeful service and integrity in leadership.
