Fashion entrepreneur Princess Akawor Dolor has called on entrepreneurs in the fashion industry to build businesses that create value for society alongside financial success.

According to her, fashion should be viewed as more than a commercial venture.

“Fashion is not just about what people wear. It is a platform to inspire confidence, create opportunities and make a meaningful difference in society,” she said.

Dolor, a philanthropist, said entrepreneurs have a responsibility to ensure their businesses contribute to the wellbeing of the communities they serve.

“Profit is important, but the real legacy of any business is the impact it has on people. Every entrepreneur should ask, ‘Whose life is my business improving?'” she said.

The founder and Chief Executive Officer of Luxe by Glamoholic noted that the fashion industry has the capacity to empower young people through employment, mentorship and skills development, adding that sustainable businesses are built on purpose as much as performance.

“When you build with purpose, success becomes more sustainable because people connect with your values, not just your products,” she said.

Dolor also encouraged emerging entrepreneurs to remain resilient despite economic challenges, stressing that innovation, integrity and consistency remain essential for long term growth.

“Challenges will come, but entrepreneurs must remain focused on solving problems and creating value. That is what keeps a business relevant,” she said.

She maintained that businesses should not measure success solely by revenue, but also by the positive change they bring to individuals and communities.

Speaking on leadership, Dolor said entrepreneurs should lead by example, fostering workplaces built on trust, excellence and respect for people.

“Leadership is about serving others. When you empower your team and create an environment where people can thrive, your business naturally becomes stronger,” she said.

She also urged fashion entrepreneurs to embrace collaboration rather than unhealthy competition, noting that partnerships can unlock innovation, expand opportunities and strengthen the industry as a whole.

“The fashion industry grows faster when we support one another. There is room for everyone to succeed, and collaboration often achieves what competition alone cannot,” she said.

Dolor further encouraged young entrepreneurs to invest in continuous learning and self development, saying the rapidly changing business environment requires adaptability and a willingness to evolve.

“You must never stop learning. Trends change, markets change and customer expectations change. The entrepreneurs who remain relevant are those who keep improving themselves and their businesses,” she said.
