The Super Eagles successfully defended their Unity Cup title on Saturday night after a commanding 3,0 victory over Jamaica national football team in the final of the 2026 Unity Cup at The Valley Stadium in London.

Nigeria, coached by Eric Chelle, produced a dominant display from start to finish to seal back to back Unity Cup triumphs and further strengthen their status as the most successful nation in the tournament’s history.

The Super Eagles made a dream start when midfielder Alhassan Yusuf opened the scoring in the fourth minute.

The midfielder reacted quickest inside the penalty area after Jamaica goalkeeper Teddy Sharman-Lowe failed to hold onto an initial effort, giving Nigeria an early advantage.

Despite Jamaica’s attempts to respond, Nigeria maintained control of proceedings with a disciplined defensive structure and impressive midfield organisation.

The Super Eagles doubled their lead in the 59th minute when striker Terem Moffi found the net to put the West Africans firmly in command of the contest.

Yusuf then completed his brace later in the match to cap a memorable individual performance and seal an emphatic 3,0 victory for the three time African champions.

The triumph marked another successful chapter in Nigeria’s impressive Unity Cup record.

The Super Eagles had entered the competition as defending champions after overcoming Jamaica on penalties in last year’s final following a thrilling 2,2 draw.

Their latest victory means Nigeria have now won every edition of the tournament they have participated in, extending a dominance that dates back to the inaugural competition in 2002 and the 2004 edition.

Nigeria reached this year’s final after defeating Zimbabwe national football team 2,0 in the semi final.

Jamaica booked their place in the showpiece match with a 2,0 victory over India national football team.

Saturday’s victory also underlined the progress being made under Chelle, who used the London tournament to assess emerging talents and strengthen squad depth ahead of upcoming international assignments.

The Super Eagles left The Valley with the trophy once again and a growing belief that a new generation of players is ready to make its mark on the international stage.
