An insightful preacher and teacher of the gospel, Pastor Tunde Jaiyebo, has urged believers to break free from the “bondage of but,” warning that excuses, fear, and self-imposed limitations often destroy divine possibilities, delay purpose, and weaken destiny fulfilment.

The minister stated this while speaking on the topic, Deliverance from the Bondage of “But”, during a session at the Charis Nigeria Convention 2026 themed, Endless Possibilities by Grace.

Delivering a deeply practical and spiritually charged message, Pastor Jaiyebo explained that grace is the divine empowerment that makes difficult things become easy.

“There are many graces, it takes grace to be a woman,” he said. “There is also a grace to be a man, even if you are a macho man, you need grace.”

According to him, grace exists for every aspect of life, including business, leadership, relationships, and personal purpose. He stressed that once a person begins to function within the area of divine grace assigned to them, life begins to operate with ease rather than constant struggle.

“Grace makes easy what is naturally tough or uneasy,” he declared.

The preacher encouraged believers to identify and function within their God given areas of grace, noting that people command influence differently depending on the grace operating in their lives.

“You must know your grace, locate it, and that is when life becomes easy,” he said. “Some have the grace to talk, they get attention, some can sing to get attention. Locate where your grace is, that is where there is your ease.”

Quoting 2 Corinthians 9:8 (AMPC), he declared that GOD is able to cause every favour and earthly blessing to abound towards His people, adding that believers are not designed for defeat.

“You are not one of those who can be defeated. You have fallen, you will rise,” he stated.

Pastor Jaiyebo explained that God places possibilities and dreams within the hearts of people, but many of those possibilities are destroyed by the constant use of “but.”

“Some dreams will come to your mind, but the assassins of but kill those possibilities,” he said.

He challenged the congregation to reflect on abandoned dreams and delayed visions.

“What have you set aside because of but? What have you abandoned because of but?” he asked. “Like, I want to go back to school, but… I have to go into business, but…”

Describing the destructive effect of excuses, he stated, “But is an eraser, it erases what possibility writes. But negates, cancels possibilities.”

According to him, excuses often become justifications for neglecting important actions and divine assignments.

“If there are no buts, what will you really do? If everything were right, what will you do? That is where God is taking you to,” he added.

He further warned of the regret that comes from abandoning ideas, only to later see others succeed through the same concepts.

“It is painful when you neglect it and see someone do the same thing you should have started,” he said.

Pastor Jaiyebo went on to outline practical ways believers can overcome the bondage of “but,” beginning with transforming possibilities into strong desires.

Referring to Mark 11:24, he explained that many people merely have wishes, not genuine desires strong enough to drive action.

“GOD works on desires, not on wishes,” he said. “A desire is active, it pushes you to do certain things.”

Quoting Psalm 145:16, he stressed that God satisfies the desires of His people.

He also urged believers to connect their possibilities to the Word of God by locating scriptures that support what God has placed in their hearts.

“There is a scripture for your possibility, locate it,” he said, referencing Philippians 4:13 and Ephesians 3:20 (AMPC).

Meditation on scripture, he explained, is another vital key to overcoming limiting thoughts and internal resistance. According to him, spiritual realities must transfer into the soul before they become visible realities in life.

“You are a spirit, you have a soul and live in the body, but your soul is the decider,” he explained.

He encouraged believers to consistently meditate on GOD’s Word until their minds and emotions align with divine possibilities.

“We are not ignoring the but, we are overcoming it,” he declared.

Another major emphasis of the message was the importance of prayer, particularly praying in tongues over specific situations and limitations. He urged believers to pray persistently over the areas where resistance exists.

Pastor Jaiyebo also cautioned against negative speech, stressing that words have creative and destructive power.

“Address your but with direct deliberate positive speech,” he said. “Speak your possibility into existence.”

Referencing Hebrews 1:14, Psalm 103:20, and Jeremiah 23:29, he taught that speaking the Word of GOD provokes spiritual processes and activates divine intervention.

“When you speak the Word of God to your situation, you provoke something to happen,” he said.

The preacher also highlighted the importance of relationships and strategic associations in fulfilling destiny.

Quoting Proverbs 13:20 and Ecclesiastes 4:9–10, he warned against surrounding oneself with people who cannot add value, wisdom, encouragement, or support.

“If you need N2 million today, and none of your friends can sort you out or connect you with how you can get it, it is a dangerous friendship,” he said.

He identified three critical categories of relationships believers must maintain, including counsellors, spouses, and pastors, stressing that major decisions should not be taken in isolation.

Concluding the message, Pastor Jaiyebo urged believers to consistently act on their possibilities through thanksgiving, learning, and daily confessions.

“Thank God over your possibilities. Learn something new every day about your possibilities. Make daily confessions over your possibilities,” he charged.

He ended with a strong declaration of hope and readiness for the future.

“If you can deal with your but, you will attain your possibilities,” he declared. “What God has in mind for you, it is mind blowing. You have unlimited capacity. So don’t give up because of your but.”
